Oscillating Tool Blades for Woodworking — HCS, HSS, and Carbide Grit
An oscillating multi-tool is one of the most versatile tools in any woodworking shop, handling flush cuts, plunge cuts, tight corner work, and material removal that would be difficult or impossible with any other tool. The blade you choose determines how fast you cut, how clean the result is, and how long the blade lasts. Infinity Tools carries a focused selection of Imperial Blades HCS wood-cutting blades with universal fit shanks that work with virtually all major oscillating tool brands.
For precise finish cuts in hardwood without tearout, the Japanese precision hardwood blade features fine teeth that slice cleanly across the grain. For aggressive material removal in softwood or when speed matters over finish, the fast wood HCS blade clears material quickly. The wood with nails Storm blade handles embedded fasteners without losing its edge, making it ideal for renovation and salvage work.
Beyond cutting, the triangular carbide grit blade removes dried adhesives, old finishes, and grout, while the rigid scraper is excellent for lifting dried glue lines, caulk, and coatings without scratching the underlying wood.
Oscillating Tool Blade Types
| Blade | Material | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 2-1/2" Fast Wood | High-carbon steel (HCS) | Fast plunge and flush cuts in softwood, plywood and trim |
| 1-1/4" Deep Wood | High-carbon steel (HCS) | Deep plunge cuts and notches in wood |
| 1-1/4" Wood with Nails Storm | Titanium-coated bi-metal | Wood with embedded nails up to 5/32", drywall and plastics |
| Triangular carbide grit | Carbide grit | Grout, old finishes and dried adhesive in tight corners |
| Rigid scraper | Steel | Lifting glue squeeze-out, caulk and coatings |
HCS vs. HSS vs. Bi-Metal Oscillating Blades
HCS (high-carbon steel) blades are flexible and sharp, and they cut wood, plastic and drywall quickly. They are the best value for clean wood. HSS (high-speed steel) blades are harder and hold an edge longer in dense hardwood. Bi-metal blades combine a flexible body with hardened teeth, so they survive hidden nails and screws in renovation work.
Will These Blades Fit My Oscillating Tool?
Universal-fit blades have an open-ended mount designed for most oscillating multi-tools from the major brands. Tools built only for Starlock blades, and some models with a proprietary arbor, need blades made for that mount, so check your tool's manual before ordering. If you're unsure, contact our team with your tool model.
