The collection includes Mirka flexible sanding pads, hook-and-loop foam hand pads, Milescraft sanding blocks, a sandpaper cleaning stick, and Liberon ultra-fine oil-free steel wool—tools that extend abrasive life and improve control on a variety of wood surfaces. See the full range in our sanding accessories collection.

Flexible sanding pads are foam-backed pads that bend and conform to curved, profiled, or contoured wood surfaces. They distribute sanding pressure evenly across the curve rather than bridging across high spots the way a rigid block would.

Oil-free 0000 steel wool is ideal for burnishing dried finish coats to a smooth, even sheen without cutting through the film. Use it before the final coat to improve inter-coat adhesion, or after the last coat for a hand-rubbed feel. Oil-free grades (like Liberon) prevent rust contamination in water-based finishes.

A cleaning stick is a block of natural rubber that you press against a spinning or moving abrasive belt, disc, or sheet. Friction causes the rubber to grab and pull out the wood resin and dust clogging the abrasive, restoring cutting action and extending the life of expensive belts and discs.

Yes—many woodworkers prefer hand sanding with a firm block for final fine-grit passes because it gives direct tactile feedback and avoids swirl marks from orbital action. A sanding block like the Milescraft Sand Devil keeps the paper flat and your fingers protected during extended sanding sessions.

A sanding block is a hand-held pad that holds a sheet of sandpaper flat against a surface for general smoothing. A sanding plane, like the Milescraft Sandplane, has a longer sole similar to a hand plane, making it better suited for truing edges and longer flat surfaces where consistent, straight contact is important.

Yes, Mirka flexible sanding pads are designed with a hook-and-loop backing that accepts standard hook-and-loop sanding discs. The flexible foam interface layer helps the disc conform to curved or uneven surfaces during random orbit or hand sanding.

Absolutely. A sanding block is one of the first tools any woodworker should own—it prevents finger grooves, keeps pressure even, and produces cleaner results than bare-hand sanding. The Milescraft Sand Devil is especially beginner-friendly with its ergonomic grip and simple sheet-clamping system.

Flexible pads are most useful at finer grits (150–320) where surface conformity matters most—during final smoothing before finishing or between coats. For coarser removal work, a rigid block or power sander is typically more efficient.
